This loco has been produced from 1968 to 1971.
There are two types of this model, the .1 built in 1968 that has the front inscription silver and the high tension cables on the roof brown, and the .2 with front inscription white an nickel HT cable .
From 1972 to 1976 it has been available only in assembly kit with code 3959, based on the 3059.2, but with the front inscription silver.
With code 4075, Märklin built also the coaches to complete the train
The original box is the same of the 3038, but with a label bringing the right code
